TACOMA, Wash.—Junior Malia Heien won the 800M and Lewis & Clark College women's outdoor track & field posted eight top-50 marks on Friday and Saturday in their outdoor track & field season opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Heien claimed Lewis & Clark's lone win of the Ed Boitano Invitational with a win in the 800M and women's track & field racked up nine top-10 finishes. 
 
Heien placed first out of 27 runners in the 800M. She crossed the line in 2:17.01 to finish 3.33 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Junior Madeleine Boyle took seventh overall with a time of 2:23.11. Her time moved her into 24^th place in program history. Junior Miriam Reside finished 13^th overall with a mark of 2:27.03. Sophomore Nadia Cota recorded a time of 2:33.42 to finish 20^th. Sophomore Mackenzie Olver (2:40.82) and first years Talia Tomhave (2:41.85) and Maeva Conroy (2:42.65) finished back-to-back-to-back in 24^th through 26^th places. 
 
Junior Elsie Chin and sophomore Callow Soto each finished in the top-five of the 400M. Chin placed second overall with a time of 1:00.66. Soto came across in fifth place with a mark of 1:02.88. 
 
The Pioneers earned their third podium finish of the weekend in the 4x400M Relay. Lewis & Clark's top quartet of Soto, Reside, Chin and Heien posted the 13^th-fastest time in program history to finish third overall. The quartet combined for a time of 4:07.62. Lewis & Clark's second team of Carolyn Mayberry, Boyle, Cota and Olver ended the race in ninth place with a time of 4:30.66. 
 
Soto added Lewis & Clark's final top-10 finish on the track in the 200M. The sophomore placed ninth overall with a time of 27.28. Senior Tessa Robinson crossed the line in 28.76 to finish in 17^th place. 
 
Robinson led the way for Lewis & Clark in the 100M. She crossed the line in 13.77 to finish 16^th. Sophomore Rose Dinh came across in 14.01 to place 23^rd. 
 
Mayberry was Lewis & Clark's lone competitor in the 110M Hurdles. Mayberry placed 13^th overall with a time of 19.51. 
 
Reside led five Lewis & Clark runners in the 1,500M. The junior finished 13^th overall with a time of 5:12.71. Cota ended the race in 19^th place with a mark of 5:26.04. Tomhave (5:32.36), Olver (5:33.14) and Conroy (5:34.89) took 22^nd, 23^rd and 24^th places. 
 
Boyle and junior Ali Kerschner finished back-to-back in the 10K on Friday night. The duo placed 16^th and 17^thwith Boyle (45:20.45) just barely edging Kerschner (45:20.48). 
 
Junior Nia Pile led all field athletes with an eighth-place finish in the long jump. The junior launched herself 4.72M (15-06 Feet) to finish eighth overall. Fellow junior Anli Davis took 13^th place with a leap of 4.47M (14-08 Feet). 
 
Junior Reilyn Sabado added a top-10 showing in the javelin throw. Sabado finished ninth overall with a throw of 28.97M (95-00 Feet). 
 
Junior Piper McCoy Harmon led five Lewis & Clark throwers in the shot put. McCoy Harmon finished 11^thoverall with a mark of 10.59M (34-09 Feet). Sophomore Divinity Singleton came in just behind McCoy Harmon in 13^th place with a throw of 10.36M (34-00 Feet). Pile took 18^th place, when she registered a mark of 9.70M (31-10 Feet). Junior Michèe Brika and sophomore Lillian Besa finished 21^st and 22^nd overall. Brika (8.52M/27-11.50 Feet) edged Besa (8.41M/27-07.25 Feet) by just over four inches. 
 
Singleton led four throwers in the discus throw. The sophomore notched a throw of 31.84M (104-05 Feet) to place 11^th. Sabado came in 14^th place, with a heave of 30.14M (98-10 Feet). Besa (29.17M/95-08 Feet) ended the event in 15^th. McCoy Harmon took 16^th overall with a throw of 28.95M (94-11 Feet). 
 
McCoy Harmon led three Lewis & Clark throwers in the hammer throw. McCoy Harmon posted the 16^th-best throw in program history to finish 20^th overall. They registered a throw of 29.75M (97-07 Feet). Singleton placed 21^st with a heave of 29.71M (97-05 Feet). Besa added a top-20 mark all-time to finish 24^th. She launched the hammer 28.63M (93-11 Feet) to move into 18^th in program history.
 
BY THE NUMBERS

• Heien's time in the 800M is currently the second-fastest time in NCAA DIII for outdoor track & field this season. 
• Sabado posted a pair of top-50 marks in program history. She moved into 26^th place in the discus and 27^th in the javelin. 
• Pile moved into 36^th place in program history in the long jump (4.72M). 
• Soto moved into 24^th-place in program history in the 200M with her time of 27.28.

Lewis & Clark will host their first of three outdoor track & field meets on Saturday. The Pioneers will welcome teams to Eldon Fix Track for the L&C Electric Forest Opener beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
