NORTH PLAINS, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College sophomore
Ahika Jani won her first career 36-hole tournament and women's golf led 12-time defending Northwest Conference Champion George Fox University after 18 holes, in their final tune-up before the Northwest Conference Fall Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jani posted the lowest-round by any player in the field on Day One (-1) to cruise to a first-place finish in a field of 50 golfers. She finished three strokes clear of George Fox's Ashlyn Johnson (+9) to earn her second collegiate win.
As a team, Lewis & Clark shot 304 (+20) on Saturday to lead the Bruins by three strokes (+23). While George Fox would ultimately win the team title (+54), the Pioneers placed second out of six NWC teams in the field.
Jani won the tournament with a score of 148 (+6). She posted the best round of her career on Saturday, when she went under par for the first time (70, -1). Jani notched a 78 (+7) on Sunday to finish the tournament with a career-low tournament score of +6 (148).
Fellow sophomore
Evie Denton finished tied for fourth in the field. Denton carded the second-lowest round in the field and tied her lowest-career score with a 72 (+1) on Day One. She shot an 85 (+14) on Sunday to finish with a 157 (+15).
First year
Darwyn Kormany put together the most consistent and best performance of her collegiate career. Kormany notched a career-low score of 80 (+9) on Day One. She added an 82 (+11) on Sunday to finish with the second-lowest score of the team. Kormany finished tied for 16
th in the field with a score of 162 (+20).
Fellow first year
Kimber Yoder finished fourth on the team. Yoder carded an 82 (+11) on Saturday. She came back with an 89 (+18) on Day Two. The first year posted a two-day total of 171 (+29) to place 27
th overall.
Sophomore
Julia Klenk was the fifth-member of the Pioneers team over the weekend. Klenk notched an 82 (+11) on Day One. She added a 91 (+20) to finish tied for 30
th overall. The sophomore notched a two-day total of 173 (+31).
Sophomore
Natalie Nuñez Lezama wrapped the tournament in a tie for 40
th overall. She posted a 93 (+22) on Day One. Nuñez Lezama came back with a 94 (+23) on Sunday to finish the tournament with a 187 (+45).
Sophomore
Lydia Schwenker was the only member of the team to improve from Day One to Day Two. Schwenker notched a 100 (+29) on Saturday but shaved off three strokes to post a 97 (+26). She shot a 197 (+55) to finish in a tie for 45
th overall.
Sophomore
Lauren Raitanen turned in a collegiate-best round on Saturday. She shot a 108 (+37) on Day One to beat her previous-low round by three strokes. Raitanen notched a 115 (+44) on Day Two. She finished the tournament with the lowest score of her career (223, +81).
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Pioneers led the field with 19 birdies as a team. They also placed tied for third with 73 pars.
- Denton finished first in the field with a 3.10 average (+1) on Par 3s. Kormany (3.30, +3) and Nuñez Lezama (3.40, +4) joined Denton in the top-10.
- Lewis & Clark finished in the top-three in averages on all three of Par 3s, 4s and 5s. They placed second in the field on Par 5s with a 5.40 average (+16).
- Jani placed first in the field on Par 4s and second on Par 5s. Jani averaged 4.06 (+1) on Par 4s and 5.00 (Even) on Par 5s.
- Klenk and Denton tied for first in the field with five birdies.
- Jani led the field with 24 pars across 36 holes.
- Jani's victory is the second of her collegiate career. She posted an 82 (+10) in the first round of the Langdon Tri Meet last Spring to lead the 13-player field by one stroke. The second round was canceled due to inclement weather.

Lewis & Clark will host the Northwest Conference Fall Classic on Sunday and Monday. This year's tournament will be hosted at the Lake Oswego Country Club.
