PORTLAND, Ore. – In their first match since the middle of March, Lewis & Clark College men's tennis dominated the University of Oregon Men's Club Tennis team 7-2 in an exhibition match at the L&C Tennis Dome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pioneers took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Senior
Alberto Dos Santos and freshman
Landon Cronin earned the day's first point, defeating Will Doerr and Ryan Iness 8-2 at No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 doubles point was won by sophomore
Matt Chio and freshman
Kai Wills 8-3 over Garret Laurie and Ariel Gomez. Senior
Kristian Peev and freshman
Wade McDermott lost a very close match to Ben Whitson and Lucky Schwarz at No. 1 doubles. The Pioneer duo fell in a tiebreak 8-7 (7-5).
Peev quickly bounced back at No. 1 singles, overpowering Laurie 6-0, 6-1. Cronin followed that up with his own 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles over Schwarz. Chio earned the fifth and match-winning point at No. 4 singles, dominating Jared Chang 6-0, 6-1.
Dos Santos fell to Whitson 6-2, 6-3 at No.2 singles. McDermott won at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-3 over Cameron Truong. Wills won the day's final match at the No. 6 spot, defeating Liam Burcham 6-0, 6-3.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Junior Miles Stone and sophomore Bennett Gazor blanked Kenny Chu and Bryant Taylor 8-0 in an exhibition match.
- Stone overpowered Chu 8-2 in a singles exhibition match
- Gazor defeated Gomez 8-4 in the second singles exhibition match
- In their last four wins, the Pioneers have won by a combined total of 29-7.
