NEWBERG, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark College men's tennis team secured the number four seed and their ninth consecutive trip to the Northwest Conference Championships Tournament this weekend in Newberg, where they will take on top-seeded George Fox University.

POSTSEASON MEETINGS (1999-2022)
The Pioneers and Bruins have met seven previous times in the postseason including in the semifinals the past two seasons. The Bruins hold a 5-2 edge in postseason play, and the Pioneers last won 5-3 in 2018.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Lewis and Clark started the season 1-7 heading into their first meeting with George Fox in March. Since that match, the Pioneers have gone 5-2. Earning them the #20 ranking as a team in the West Region. The No.1 doubles pairing of senior
Kristian Peev and freshman
Wade McDermott are 5-2 in NWC play and are currently the #12 ranked doubles team in the West Region.
In singles play, four of the Lewis & Clark men played in all seven NWC duals, with three of them finishing 4-3. Sophomore
Matt Chio joins Peev and McDermott at 4-3 in NWC singles play. All of Peev's singles matches have been played at the one spot, while Chio has played in spots 2-4, and McDermott has played 3-6.

Kai Wills have all played at least five NWC singles matches. Dos Santos is 2-3, mostly at the number 2 slot, Stone is 3-2, and Wills is 3-4, both playing in the 4-6 spots.
SCOUTING THE BRUINS
George Fox enters the NWC Tournament ranked #29 in the nation and has the West Region's number one doubles team (Camden Camacho and Vahag Pashayan) and two singles players (#13 Eli Mizerski and #24 Vahag Pashayan) in the region's top 25.
The Bruins have dominated the NWC this year. They have defeated five of their conference opponents by a score of 9-0 and only given up five points against the other two teams. They defeated Whitman 7-2 and Pacific 6-3.
In the other match on Saturday, #3 Whitman will take on #2 Pacific at 2:00 p.m. Pacific won the previous meeting 6-3 earlier this month. Pacific's doubles pairing of Mason Tran and Quinten Gonzalez is ranked #11 in the region, and Tran is ranked #13 in singles, while Gonzalez is ranked #19.
WHAT'S NEXT
The winner of Saturday's match will earn a spot in the 2023 NWC Championship Match. The match will be played at noon on Sunday.
