PUYALLUP, Wash.—Pacific Lutheran University scored 28 points in the second quarter to take control and never let Lewis & Clark College football back into the game on Saturday at Sparks Stadium.Â

Pacific Lutheran quarterback Darius Chaffin connected on his first 13 passes of the game and finished 17-20 for 276 yards and six touchdowns (five passing) to lead the Lutes in a matchup of 2-1 teams in NWC play.Â

Trey Morris finished 19-31 for 251 passing yards and two touchdowns.Â

Senior wide receiver
Devon Guest went over 100 receiving yards for the second-straight game and third time this season. Guest racked up 111 yards on four catches and a touchdown.Â

Fellow seniors
Elijah McGee (three catches, 65 yards) and
Ben Burnham (five catches, 56 yards) each posted 50+ yards. Freshman
Julius Walker added two catches for 22 yards and his first collegiate touchdown catch.

Senior running back
Elijah Washington just missed out on a 100 total yards. He led the backfield with 15 carries for 50 yards and added four grabs for 40 yards. Freshman
Chili Stephens added eight rushes for 29 yards.Â

Sophomore
Daryl Scott led the defense with nine total tackles. He matched senior
Justin Hope for the team lead with five solo tackles. Senior
Silas Ticeson added seven tackles (four solo) and the team's lone takeaway of the game – a fumble recovery. Sophomore
Thomas Reagan notched six tackles (four solo) and a tackle-for-loss and sophomore
Jack Warren registered one tackle (solo) and a forced fumble.Â

The hosts set the tone early when Manuel Felan returned the opening kickoff for a 90-yard touchdown.Â

Pacific Lutheran threatened to double their lead on their first actual drive of the game. They had first and goal from the three-yard line. On the first play,
Logan Wacker stuffed the rusher for no gain.
Ramsen Paz and
Ward Anderson stopped the rusher at the one on the second play and on third down, Chaffin was stopped at the one and fumbled and Ticeson dove on the fumble.Â

The Lutes made it 21-0 early in the second when they scored a touchdown and then took advantage of a Pios fumble inside their own-20 to push their lead to 21-0 two plays later.Â

Lewis & Clark got on the board on their next drive. Morris connected with Burnham on back-to-back plays to move the ball 21 yards. After a three-yard rush from Washington, Guest corralled a 47-yard touchdown catch to make it 21-7 with 8:45 before halftime.Â

Pacific Lutheran tacked on two more scores before halftime.Â

After forcing a Lutes punt on their first drive of the second half, Lewis & Clark marched down the field on a 18-play, 87-yard drive. The Pioneers went 2-3 on third downs on the drive and converted their lone fourth down try. With the visitors facing third and 11 inside their own 15, Morris found Burnham for 16 yards. Later in the drive, Lewis & Clark faced a third and 16 just outside the red zone. Morris hit Washington for six yards on third down and then Washington posted a 19-yard catch to take the ball all the way to the three-yard line. With the ball moved back to the 15-yard line, Morris hooked up with Walker for a 15-yard score and the freshman's first collegiate score.Â

Pacific Lutheran scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to account for the final score.Â

BY THE NUMBERS
- Lewis & Clark outgained the hosts 449-440 and went 7-12 on third downs.Â
- The Pioneers committed a season-high four turnovers in the loss.Â
- Guest's 111 receiving yards was a season-high and the second-most of his collegiate career. The senior is just shy of 500 yards for the season (496) and just shy of 1,300 career receiving yards (1,282).Â
- Senior Cruz Montana finished 5-6 for 82 passing yards. Junior JT Willis went 1-1 for 20 yards.Â
- Guest (496 yards), McGee (443 yards) and Burnham (429 yards) rank sixth, eighth and ninth in the NWC in receiving yards. Â
