PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College opened Northwest Conference play with a 7-2 win over visiting University of Puget Sound on Saturday afternoon at the L&C Tennis Dome.
Caren Uribe and Arielle Bloom each went 2-0 on the afternoon to lead the Pioneers to their fifth-straight home win at the L&C Dome.

KEY MOMENTS
After a slow start in all three doubles matches, Lewis & Clark grabbed a 2-1 advantage after doubles thanks to wins at the second and third flights.
Kacie Lau and Uribe rolled to an 8-3 win at third doubles and Rachael Rice and Bloom matched them with an 8-3 win of their own. The visitors kept themselves in the match with an 8-2 win at top-flight doubles.
Lewis & Clark cruised to the match win thanks to strong singles play across the board. They won five of the six singles matches, with Rice falling at number one singles 6-0, 5-7, 6-3 to regionally-ranked Puget Sound sophomore Andie Machida.
Uribe (second singles) and Maca Vives (third singles) quickly gave Lewis & Clark a 4-1 lead thanks to straight-set victories.
After Puget Sound cut the deficit to 4-2, Bloom secured the match win with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 three-set victory at fourth singles over Rachel Heinke.
Eadie Paulsen made it 6-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at fifth singles and Hayley Kreps closed out the win with a 6-3, 6-0 win at sixth singles.

- After starting the year 0-2 at home, the Pioneers have won five-straight home matches at the brand new L&C Dome. Over the past two weekends, Lewis & Clark has outscored their opponents 34-11.
- The Pioneers extended their winning streak to nine in a row over the Loggers.
