Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark Pioneers hosted the Puget Sound Loggers Friday night at Pamplin Sports Center, winning 72-68 in overtime. The Pioneers took the lead in the final minute of play, but the game went into overtime after Puget Sound tied the score with six seconds left on the clock. In their previous match-up with the Loggers, Lewis & Clark lost 72-71. This is their second consecutive conference win.
Brenden Patrick and Jayden Simpson led scoring efforts for the Pioneers. Patrick hit double-digits for his 12th consecutive game with a season-high 25 points, while Simpson hit a career-high 26 points, his eighth game in double-digits this season. Jack Henderson matched Simpson in rebounds, with both players logging 11.

In a game that never saw a lead larger than nine points, the teams traded the lead back and forth throughout the first half. The Loggers went into the halftime break with a 29-23 advantage.
Down 36-32 early in the second, the Pioneers went on an 8-0 run led by Sebastian DePrez and Patrick who each had two buckets in the sequence. During the run, Patrick tied the game at 36 with a contested jumper in the paint.
Simpson, who went 10-12 from the free-throw line and made 8-13 from the field, tied the game with 7:45 left in regulation. He was a key rebounder for the Pioneers and was able to successfully drive through the defense in the paint throughout the game. With the game tied at 46, the Loggers called a timeout, and on their next possession, a basket from Paul Johnson put them back in the lead. Simpson tied the game again on his next drive to the basket when he drew a foul and sank both free throws.
With 1:52 left in regulation, down by four, Ryan Cibull hit a key three-pointer to make it a one-point game. The Logger's Cal Hansen drew a foul in the paint on their following possession but missed both of his free throws. With 1:34 on the clock, Simpson rebounded the ball and swung it to Patrick on the three-point line to give the Pioneers a two-point advantage. The Loggers tied it again at 60-60 before using timeout. Out of the timeout, Simpson drew a foul on his drive to the basket and hit both free throws for another narrow lead. Head Coach Tim McCrory used a Pioneers timeout with 35 seconds left on the clock, but in an effort not to foul, The Pioneers allowed Grant Erickson to drive to the basket to tie the game at 62-62 with 6.2 seconds left in the game. Henderson inbounded the ball to Patrick who put up a shot in the key but missed at the buzzer.
The Loggers scored the first four points in overtime to put them up 62-66. With 3:16 left, Simpson rebounded a missed shot from Henderson and was again fouled on the putback. Simpson made both to shrink the Loggers' lead down to two. Henderson went to the line with 2:22 left to make both free throws to tie the game 66-66. After a miss from Johnson, Simpson puts the Pioneers up by two with 1:21 left. The Loggers missed key opportunities to tie the game, including on two free throws from Erickson. They were forced to foul Jalen Lowery whose one made free throw put the Pioneers up by three. A three-point attempt by the Loggers was unsuccessful which sent Lowery back to the line for another made free throw to put the Pioneers up by four. With 14 seconds left in overtime, Henderson was the next player sent to the line and sank both shots to run the clock out with a 72-68 advantage.
