Box Score TACOMA, Wash. -- Brenden Patrick's go-ahead jumper narrowly missed with two seconds left as the Lewis & Clark Pioneers lost 72-71 at the Puget Sound Loggers on Saturday.
Out of a timeout with eight seconds left, Patrick drove and tried an unsuccessful fadeaway from just beyond the free-throw line. Patrick had 19 points on 8 of 16 shooting. Ryan Cibull led the Pios with 20 points on 6 of 9 shooting from 3-point range.
The Pioneers held a lead as late as six minutes remaining in the game.

Lewis & Clark's last lead was with nine minutes left in the game. Neither team led by more than five in the second half.
Trailing 68-63 with just under four minutes left, the Pios thrice brought the deficit to within one. The last occurred when Jalen Lowery scored on a layup with 46 seconds left and closed the gap to 72-71.
Puget Sound had two chances to extend the lead. Will Pohland missed a 3-pointer, but Grant Erickson snagged an offensive rebound. Paul Johnson, who led the Loggers with 21 points, missed the front end of a one-and-one, which set the stage for Patrick's go-ahead attempt for the Pios.
The Pioneers (6-5, 0-3 NWC) used a 14-2 run and built a 43-35 lead with 1:10 left in the first half. Cibull had 14 of his 20 points in the first half. Lowery, who finished the game with nine points and a team-high six rebounds, had all five of his assists in the first half.
