VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Rachael Rice and Maca Vives won the No. 2 doubles match as the Lewis & Clark Pioneers lost 5-1 to the Whitman Blues on Saturday at Club Green Meadows.
Rice and Vives beat Irene Tsai and Grace Carter, 8-4, in the two spot. Vives was the only Pioneers entrant to win a singles set in a 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 defeat to Tsai in No. 3 singles.

The Rice and Vives duo remained undefeated this season with the win in No. 2 doubles, the spot in which all of their wins have come this season.
Meanwhile, Vives was defeated in singles for the first time this year despite winning the opening set. Vives is 5-1 this season. In No. 2 position, Madelyn Landerfelt lost 7-6 (6), 6-1 to Anastasiya Redkina.
"In singles, Madelyn's and Maca's play stood out," Pios assistant coach Rocky Campbell said. "Maca dictated play with her ground strokes in the first set, consistently pushing her opponent back. An aggressive return game at 5-4 allowed Maca to break and take the first set, 6-4. Madelyn's aggressive baseline play challenged her opponent in an extremely tight first set that she lost in an extremely close tiebreak."
