SPOKANE, Wash. -- Maca Vives won the lone match for the Lewis & Clark Pioneers in an 8-1 defeat to the Whitworth Pirates at the Scotford Tennis Center on Saturday.
Vives beat Kyndal Locati, 6-3, 6-2, in the No. 2 spot. The Pioneers had three competitors who made the trip on Saturday.

Key Moments
With an overall record of 4-0, Vives remained undefeated with the win in second position. In their first match competing together, Vives and Madelyn Landerfelt lost 8-2 in the No. 1 doubles match against Aleah Kert and Kyndal Locati.
Kendall Malone debuted and fell 6-2, 6-2 in No. 3 singles to Froukje Lakerveld. It was Malone's first-ever collegiate match.
"Maca continued her unbeaten year in singles play, and Kendall got to play in her first college match," Pios head coach Jimmy Chau said. "Playing at elevation, with swirling winds and through periods of light rain, snow or hail, we battled and got better today."
Landerfelt lost the top singles match, 6-2, 6-2, too Kert.
