Lewis & Clark drops matches with No. 13 Trinity, No. 11 Redlands

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers Men's Tennis team recorded their first loss of the season this morning against No. 13 Trinity. It was a tough loss for the Pioneers losing 5-4 but it was definitely a battle.

In the singles matches both teams split the matches 3-3. For the Pios, Powell Jackson won (6-3, 7-6), Kei Inoue won (6-4,6-3), and Brenden Barrows won in three (6-2, 4-6, 6-2). Trinity won the other matches defeating Lewis & Clark's' Gordon Barrows, Raed Attia, and Ramez Attia.

In the doubles matches, duo partners Inoue and Pim Trouerbach won against Trinitys' Lars Wiik and Tilden Oliver (8-4). The Pios won one of the two doubles matches, with the Barrowses losing by one (9-8) and R. Attia with Powell losing (8-4).

Match 2

The Pioneers lost to the No.11 Redland Bulldogs on Saturday evening, 8-1. This was their second match of the day and they were facing their second nationally ranked team of the season.

In the singles matches, there was a high-point for Lewis & Clark when Jackson Powell defeated Joey Dulle in two sets (7-5, 6-3). But out of the six matches the No.11 Bulldogs took five of them even defeating the Pioneers best singles player Raed Attia in two sets (6-4,6-1). The remaining Pioneers Brenden Barrows, Pim Trouerbach, Kei Inoue and Brendan Adams also lost their singles matches in two sets.

The doubles matches did not go very well for Lewis & Clark with them losing all three match-ups. The Barrowses were able to get three points against Joey Dulle/Brad Cummins but lost 8-3. The second pair of brothers, the Attias, were able to get four points against Cameron Krimbill/Cooper Lacetera, but eventually lost 8-4. Powell and Inoue lost their doubles match as well but earned five point going down 8-5.

Lewis & Clark Men's Tennis will resume Sunday at 2 p.m. in their scrimmage against Whitman.
