FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- Following a spring break trip to Ohio, the Lewis & Clark Pioneers resumed Northwest Conference matches with an 8-1 win at the Pacific Boxers on Saturday at the Holce Tennis Courts.
Lewis & Clark took two of the three doubles matches before sweeping the singles without losing a set.
Christine Eliazo and Wiktoria Plawska won the top doubles match, 8-3, over Danielle du Plooy and Kaitlyn Lomartire. The Pioneers followed with an 8-5 victory by Josie Legarza and Natalie Kelly over Johanna Wilson and Sophia Nishimura in No. 2 position. At No. 3, Pacific's Chantelle Baclay and Marissa Hayashi defeated Chloe Sermet and Tash Hood, 8-2.
Sermet bounced back to win the No. 5 singles match, 6-4, 6-1, over Hayashi. Kelly had the tightest set in a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Nishimura at No. 4, while Eliazo won 6-2, 7-5 over Chantelle Baclay in the third spot.
Plawska moved to 7-5 in No.1 matches with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lomartire. In No. 2 position, Legarza won 6-4, 6-3 over du Plooy.
Adrienne Fox improved to 3-0 in NWC matches with a 6-0, 6-3 defeat of Johanna Wilson in the final singles match.
At 8-2 in the NWC, Lewis & Clark's final two regular season matches include Senior Day against George Fox on Friday before the final at Puget Sound on Apr. 15.
