SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers are now 9-0, and atop the Northwest Conference standings by two wins, after a 9-0 defeat of the Whitworth Pirates on Sunday at the Scotford Tennis Center.
Lewis & Clark swept the doubles, keeping all three opposing pairs from winning more than three games. Kacey Incerpi and Wiktoria Plawska won the top match-up, 8-3, over Bella Hoyos and Jennifer Adams. The nation's 23rd-ranked pair of Summer Garrison and Aurora Garrison won 8-3 over Annabelle Burns and Emma Jo Wiley in the second spot, while No. 14 Claudia Lew and Christine Eliazo beat KC McConnell and Paige Rohrbach, 8-2.
The Pioneers had similar success in singles, especially in the middle matches. Aurora Garrison won the No. 2 position match over Wiley, 6-1, 6-1, and Plawska was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Adams in the third spot. Eliazo defeated McConnell, 6-2, 6-3, at the No. 4 position, while Lew was victorious, 6-2, 6-1, over Burns at No. 5.
7th-ranked Summer Garrison beat Hoyos, 7-5, 6-3, in the top singles match, while Vika O'Brien defeated Rohrbach, 6-4, 6-1, in the No. 6 spot.
Lewis & Clark has a home-heavy schedule, playing their final three duals in Portland starting on Saturday when Puget Sound plays at the Tennis Dome.
