PORTLAND, Ore. - The #36 Lewis & Clark women's tennis team defeated the George Fox Bruins 9-0 on Sunday afternoon in Northwest Conference action.
The win is the Pioneers seventh straight and marks the fourth time this season they have not allowed a NWC opponent a point.
The Pioneers made quick work of the Bruins in doubles action, starting with an 8-2 win by Kacey Incerpi and Christine Eliazo in the No. 1 spot. Claudia Lew and Summer Garrison rolled past Catrina Kwong and Andrea Motley 8-1 in the No. 2 spot, while Aurora Garrison and Gillian Lowe earned an 8-2 win as the No. 3.
S. Garrison picked up her sixth win of the season as the Pioneers No. 1 singles player, taking down Sarah Tuemmier 6-3, 6-1. In the No. 2 singles spot, A. Garrison bounced back after a disappointing loss on Saturday to defeat Chantelle Hadeed 6-0, 6-1.
Incerpi had an exciting match to watch in the No. 3 spot for the Pioneers battling Taylor Barnes for a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Glenna Gee-Taylor picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win as the No. 4, while Eliazo won 6-1, 6-4 over Motley in the No. 5 spot. Natalie Kelly made her spring debut for the Pioneers after wrapping up the 2014-2015 women's basketball season. The freshman competed in the No. 6 spot, defeating Krista Rey 6-3, 6-4.
The Pios return to action on Friday, March 13 at 4 p.m. in the L&C Tennis Dome against Linfield.
