SALEM, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's tennis team picked up a 9-0 win over Willamette on Sunday afternoon in Northwest Conference action. The win is the Pioneers seventh straight against NWC foes.
The Pioneers move to 9-2 on the season and 7-0 in the Northwest Conference. The Bearcats fall to 0-9 on the season and 0-6 in conference play.
Christine Eliazo and Kacey Incerpi had a battle on their hands as the Pioneers top doubles pair, fighting Denise Poltavsi and Mikaila Smith for an 8-6 win. Summer Garrison and Claudia Lew cruised to an easy 8-1 win as the Pios No. 2 team, while Aurora Garrison and Wiktoria Plawska earned a dominating 8-0 win at No. 3.
Singles proved to be no match for the Pioneers either, starting with a 6-4, 6-1 win from S. Garrison in the top spot. Both A. Garrison (No. 2) and Eliazo (No. 5) picked up solid 6-0, 6-0 wins for the Pioneers. Plawska defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 3 spot, while Lew won 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot and Natalie Kelly picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory as the No. 6.
The team heads to California for their next contest, facing UC Santa Cruz on March 24.
