PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team started the Northwest Conference season off with a dominating 9-0 win over Puget Sound in the L&C Tennis Dome on Saturday.
The win improves the Pioneers to 1-1 on the season after dropping their season opening match to the University of Idaho.
In singles play, the Pioneers never allowed any of the Loggers to take a set. The closest match came in the No. 5 spot with Harrison Collins defeating Connor McDaniel 7-5, 6-2. Every other match was clearly dominated by Lewis & Clark.
Michael Brewer earned a win in the No. 1 spot, taking down Daniel Deuel 6-1, 6-1. Daniel Hahm (No. 3) won his match the same way, while Kevin Ross defeated Abe Noyes 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot. Morgan Joyce took down Andrew Struzenberg 6-0, 6-2, while Gordon Barrows won 6-2, 6-0 against Chris Severt.
Doubles was much the same for Lewis & Clark with Joyce/ Barrows (No. 1) and Ross/Brewer (No. 2) each earning 8-1 victories. Hahm and Collins paired up in No. 3 doubles, picking up an 8-2 win over Noyes and Chet Selis.
The Pios return to the court on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. when they host Pacific Lutheran.
