Wildcats Take Game Three From Baseball

McMINNVILLE, Ore- The Lewis & Clark baseball team played their final game of the season and a three game series with Linfield Sunday losing 21-1. Senior Corey Davis led the Pioneers with three hits on the day. The Pioneers finish out their season with a 10-28-1 overall record and a 4-20 Northwest Conference record. With the win, the Wildcats move to 32-4 overall with a 22-2 Northwest Conference record.

Ryan Strombom (2-6) picks up the loss for the Pioneers pitching two innings giving up four runs on three hits, while walking three and striking out four. Aaron Landecker, Severiano Villarruel, Stein Retzlaff, Kyle Tibbett, Keean Kondo, and Ben Beck all saw time on the mound as well for the Pioneers. Aaron Thomassen (9-1) picks up the win for the Wildcats pitching five innings while striking out five. Four other pitchers also saw time on the mound for the Wildcats.

Davis in the final game of his career hit a single to center field in the top of the first, but with two outs already away, a pop up ended the inning.

The Wildcats first lit up the scoreboard in the bottom of the second scoring one run on one hit. A big third inning produced ten runs on six hits including a grand slam hit by Nick Fisher. Five more runs came in the fourth using two hits and two errors to their advantage. A single run in the fifth brought the score to seventeen. The Wildcats used five hits to score their final four runs in the bottom of the seventh.

The Pioneers didn't strike until the ninth to score their run using two hits. Tommy Massari led the inning off with a double and advanced to third on a Akira Abderrahman single to short stop. Massari then scored on a Carter Bagley ground out.

The Pioneers finished the game with nine hits led by Davis who finished with three. Massari finished with two, while Bradley Lezak, Matthew Cathcart, Abderrahman, and Jacob Burton each finished with one.
