Whitman Captures Win Over Baseball

WALLA WALLA, Wash- Fresh off their trip in Arizona, the Lewis & Clark baseball team played Whitman Saturday in its first game of a three game series losing 3-0. Finishing with three hits, the Pioneers couldn't pull out a win moving their Northwest Conference record to 2-8 and 8-13-1 overall.

Alex Heimbrodt (1-2) takes the loss for the Pioneers pitching all eight innings giving up three runs on eight hits, while walking four and striking out three. Brett Lambert takes the win for the Missionaries pitching five innings giving up one hit, while walking six and striking out seven. Spencer Hobson and Nick Johnson also saw time on the mound for the Missionaries.

The Pioneers could only muster three hits against the Missionaries, but successfully drew six walks. Michael Kinkenon, Evan Gray, and Jacob Burton each finished with one hit a piece for the Pioneers.

The Missionaries scored one run in the bottom of the sixth when Aaron Cohen doubled down the left field line, advanced to third on a fly out to center field and scored on sac fly to center again. The other two runs came in the bottom of the seventh using three singles and a walk to their advantage.

The Pioneers take on Whitman again for a Northwest Conference double-header Sunday March 30 beginning at noon.
