PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's tennis team could not hold off the #16 Whitman Missionaries on Sunday afternoon, falling 9-0 at home in the L&C Tennis Dome.
Claudia Lew fell 6-1, 6-3 as the Pioneers No. 1, Olivia Sweetman dropped both her sets 6-1 (No. 2), while Makena McCluskey lost 6-1, 7-5. Playing as the Pioneers No. 4, Allison Schneider could not hold off Maddy Webster falling 6-2, 6-1. Theresa Grigsby dropped her two sets 6-2 in the No. 5 spot and Paloma Vizcaino fell 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 6 position.
Lewis & Clark's best chance for a doubles point came at the No. 1 spot with Lew and McCluskey falling to Webster and Courtney Lawless 8-4. Grigsby and Schneider played as the No. 2, falling 8-0. Sweetman and Vizcaino rounded out the doubles pairs, falling 8-3 in the three spot.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, March 7 at 4 p.m. when they host Willamette.
