Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark football team ended its season on Saturday afternoon against Northwest Conference newcomer George Fox. The Bruins won 30-12.
Offensively the Pioneers had a solid day, finishing with 374 yards of total offense to the Bruins 168. The Bruins success came on two untimely interceptions that were returned for touchdowns.
Freshman Cody Rochon was 19-of-36 on the day for 183 yards, while throwing both Pioneer interceptions. Zach Littlefield saw action in the fourth quarter, finishing the contest 5-of-10 for 45 yards, including a two-yard hand off to Jacob Costantino that resulted in the Pioneers lone touchdown.
Rochon led the team in rushing yards with 65 on 16 carries, while Littlefield held onto the ball eight times for 21 yards. Michael Hawkins was the teams top receiver with 70 yards on six catches. Nico Ohland also ended the day with six receptions for 58 yards.
Colin Brown put the Pioneers on the board with 10:12 to go in the first quarter with the first of his two field goals. The Bruin defense scored toward the end of the quarter, but a failed GFU point after attempt made it a 6-3 contest.
Brown made his second field goal in the second quarter to tie the contest at 6-6. The Bruins went onto respond with 23 unanswered points.
With 8:03 to go in the fourth quarter, Littlefield handed the ball off to Costantino for the Pioneer touchdown. The Pioneers tried for the two-point conversion but were unable to convert.
The Pioneers made it into Bruin territory consistantly throughout the course of the contest, earning 25 first downs, while converting 11 of their 24 third down attempts. Despite moving the ball well the team was unable to find the end zone.
