Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - Freshman quarterback Cody Rochon took the ball 43-yards for the Lewis & Clark football teams lone touchdown on a gloomy Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers hosted #5 Linfield in Northwest Conference action.
Rochon was 10-of-25 from under center for 96 yards. Rochon led the Pioneers in rushing with 64-yards on 10 carries, including his touchdown run. Jacob Costantino ended his day with 50-yards on 10 carries, while pulling in five catches for 33-yards. Nico Ohland put up 30 yards on two catches, while Jantzen Shinmoto had 16 yards on his lone reception.
Curtis Shirey was solid for the Pioneers on special teams, earning the team 91-yards on six returns.
Andrew Traver led the Pioneers with nine tackles, while Lucas Rogers and Jon Bielawicz each had seven. Bielawicz sacked the Linfield quarterback as well, while finishing with 1.5 tackles for a loss.
After going for it on fourth and one on their own 44-yard line, Rochon picked up the much needed firstdown or the Pioneers on their third possession of the third quarter. The Pioneers then made their way into Wildcat territory three plays later on an 11-yard carry by Costantino. After missing his mark the play before, Rochon rebounded moments later with his second touchdown of the season. The Pio quarterback took the ball 43-yards after finding an open hole and eventually the end zone.
The Pioneers return to the field on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. when they host Pacific for Homecoming.
