Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark football team played its first home game of the 2014 season on Saturday afternoon at Griswold Stadium. The Pioneers hosted Northwest Conference foes Pacific Lutheran, with the Lutes pulling out a 44-7 victory.
The Pioneers lone score of the day came from senior Jacob Costantino in the second quarter. The senior wide receiver took the ball 10-yards on a handoff from Zach Littlefield. Costantino led the team in rushing with 56 yards on eight carries, while having 48-yards on five catches.
Littlefield saw the most action under center due to an injury early to freshman Cody Rochon. Littlefield ended the day with 13 completions on 20 attempts for 133 yards.
Zac Salois had 49 yards on just five receptions, while Costantino was right behind him. Curtis Shirey retuned five kickoffs for 94 yards for Lewis & Clark.
Defensively Andrew Traver paced the way with 13 tackles, while picking up two tackles for a loss of eight yards. Siosifa Tonga concluded the game with nine hits on the Lutes, including a fumble recovery. Deion Mock and Stein Retzlaff each had eight tackles, while Josh Cena had two breakups and Dylan Stacy had one.
The Pioneers hit the road for their next contest, traveling to Willamette on Saturday, Oct. 18 for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
