RESULTS
SALEM, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's team earned a 6-3 win over the Willamette Bearcats on Friday night in Northwest Conference action.
The Pioneers improve to 2-2 on the season and 2-1 in conference play, while the Bearcats are still in search of their first win (0-4 overall, 0-3 NWC).
Lew, Osepyan and Borris, along with Gillian Lowe all contributed to the Pioneers four singles points. Lew earned an easy win from the No. 3 spot with Stephanie Matsuura having to pull out for a 6-0, 6-3 result.
Lowe took on Carlson, earning a quick 6-0 result in both sets. Osepyan defeated Guimont in the No. 5 singles position, earning two 6-1 wins. Borris earned the teams final singles point with a win over Yasmine Genena from the No. 6 spot.
Aurora Garrison nearly earned a win from the No. 1 position taking Denise Poltavski to a tie breaker. The two battled in the opening set with Garrison winning 7-6 (7-5). Poltavski bounced back to take the second set 7-6 (7-4) before winning the tie breaker 1-0 (10-7).
The Pioneers return to the court on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 12:30 p.m. in the Tennis Dome as they host Pacific.
