Women's Tennis Defeats Whitworth 8-1

RESULTS

SPOKANE, Wash. -  The Lewis & Clark women's tennis team pulled out its first Northwest Conference win of the season on Friday afternoon, defeating the Whitworth Pirates 8-1.

The Pioneers swept all three doubles matches, while pulling out all but one singles match.

In No. 1 singles, Aurora Garrison defeated Saryn Mooney in two sets by the score of 6-3. Olivia Cornell nearly pulled out a win in the No. 2 spot, winning 7-5 in the first set before falling 4-6 in the second. After splitting the first two sets, Jessi Steele earned the 1-0 (10-4) win in the deciding set.

Claudia Lew earned a quick win from the No. 3 spot, while Gillian Lowe fought for a win against Megan Wingfield in the No. 4 spot. Lisa Osepyan had her hands full in the No. 5 spot, but earned a three set win over Caylee Lamm. Osepyan won 7-5 in the opening set, before slipping 3-6. In the final set, Osepyan easily defeated her opponent 1-0 (10-1). Isabelle Borris earned the final singles win for the Pios, taking down Morgan McDivitt in straight sets.
