Women's Tennis Picks Up First Win of the Season Over George Fox 6-3

RESULTS

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's tennis team earned its first win of the season on Friday afternoon, taking down the George Fox Bruins 6-3 in Northwest Conference action. The win is the first for first year head coach Pat Dreves.

Lisa Ospeyan earned an easy 6-1, 6-2 win from the No. 2 singles position, taking down Shaina Inn. Gillian Lowe collected a 6-3, 6-4 victory from No. 3 singles, battling Alyssa Emoto. Playing out of the No. 5 singles spot, freshman Justine Minette fell to Chantelle Hadeed 6-1 in the first set before firing back to win 6-3 in the next two sets. Elisa Alway also picked up a hard fought victory from the No. 6 singles spot, earning a 6-4 win in the first set before falling 7-5 to Alissandra Wittrig in set two. Alway won the third and final set 7-5 to hand the Pios their fourth singles win of the day.

Ospeyan and Lowe earned the a strong 8-0 win over Emoto and Marissa Chau in No. 2 doubles. Sophomore Makena McClusky and freshman Esa Grigsby teamed up to take on Hadeed and Cara Griffith in No. 3 doubles, taking down the Bruin tandem 8-4.

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, March 17 at home against Pacific Lutheran. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m.
