PORTLAND, OR.-
There was no stopping the Wildcats tonight as the Pioneers continued their improved doubles play but had little to show in singles action.
Arriving over an hour later than scheduled due to a traffic jam on 99W, the Pioneers surprisingly jumped out to a decent start in doubles action. Going back to the basics and continuing with their theme of constant improvement, the men come up with quite a few more games than in their first meeting against a Linfield team that is playing really well right now. George Allen and Quinn Roth-Carter played a much tighter match than what the score would show in a 8-3 loss to Mark Madaong and Brent Kingzett. Cody Levien and Tim Wagar teamed up in a 8-2 win over Kerry White and Sam Franer and Tal DeWitt and Zachery Lyons would be victorious by the same 8-2 margin over Gabriel Trepanier and Muneeb Khan.
Singles action saw very little fight from the Pioneers. As the temperature dropped, so did the Pioneers in fairly convincing fashion. Tal DeWitt and Tim Wagar only dropped one game each in their matches at #2 and #4 singles. Brent Kingzett and Zachery Lyons would better them by posting 6-0, 6-0 victories in their respective slots. As has been fairly consistent all year long, George Allen had the best showing of any of the Pioneers in a 6-3, 6-4 loss to #28 regionally ranked Mark Madaong. Allen took the first meeting between the two earlier in the year at the LC tennis courts, and Madaong would prove that home court advantage does matter to even up the series.
The Pioneers are scheduled to take on the George Fox Bruins at 1 pm in Newberg on Saturday, but stayed tuned for an announcement as rain is expected.
