PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark
men's basketball team wrapped up its 2009-10 season on
Tuesday night, battling hard against the University of Portland of
the NCAA Division I. The Pilots got the better of the Pioneers,
winning 72-49, in front of 1,818 spectators at the Chiles
Center.
In the first half, the Pilots jumped out to a 10-0 lead before
going to their bench to take a 36-25 lead into halftime.
The Pioneers did not roll over and hand the Pilots the contest,
pulling within eight at 51-43 on a three-point play by freshman
Scott Pisapia with 9:39 left in regulation. The momentum change
would cause the Pilots to buckle down, holding the Pios to just two
points over the six minutes to take the victory down the
stretch.
The Pioneers had a strong showing from the charity stripe, shooting
7-of-9 for the game. Senior Josh Kollasch left his final collegiate
game in style, scoring a game-high 15 points. The 6-3 senior also
pulled down five rebounds, while collecting a game-high four
steals. Junior Kelly Edwards finished with nine points, while both
Tyler Tsukazaki and James Hollins contributed eight.
