NEWBERG, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College men's basketball could not overcome an early deficit Saturday, falling 92-82 to George Fox University in Northwest Conference action at Wheeler Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior
Justin White recorded a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and a team-high eight assists, narrowly missing his second career triple-double.
Seniors
Kody Uyesugi and
Andre Treadwell each scored 14 points. Uyesugi connected on four 3-pointers, while Treadwell shot 5-for-10 from the field and made four of eight attempts from beyond the arc.
Sophomore
Marcus Bast added 11 points and seven assists, while fellow sophomore
Donovan Beard provided a spark off the bench with 10 points.
Lewis & Clark took a 2-0 lead on a layup by senior
Taien Jackson (eight points) 36 seconds into the game, but George Fox responded with a 14-2 run over the next five minutes to take the lead for good. A 3-pointer by Treadwell at the 11:58 mark pulled the River Otters within 23-20, before the Bruins used a 7-0 run to go ahead by 10 at 9:49.
Jackson converted a layup at 4:30 to cut the margin to 37-32, but George Fox closed the half on an 11-5 run to take a 48-37 advantage into the break.
The Bruins extended their lead to 59-44 with 17:33 remaining in regulation. Lewis & Clark answered with a 7-1 run, capped by a White layup, to pull within 60-51 at the 16:11 mark.
The River Otters continued to chip away and cut the deficit to 70-65 with 8:52 left after a Beard driving layup. Uyesugi then knocked down a 3-pointer to bring Lewis & Clark within two at 70-68 with eight minutes remaining.
George Fox responded and did not allow Lewis & Clark to get closer than seven points the rest of the way.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Uyesugi surpassed 900 career points; his 14-point effort moved him to 905 for his career.
- Junior Yigit Arcan (eight points) was second on the team with seven rebounds, while junior Joe Brown (five points) added six boards.
- White recorded his sixth double-double of the season.
