PORTLAND, Ore. - Senior Josh Kollasch and junior
Kelly Edwards both knocked down a game-high 18 points for the
Pioneers, but it was not enough to propel the Lewis & Clark
men's basketball team past the visiting Linfield Wildcats on
Friday night, as the Pios fell to their Northwest Conference foe
72-60.
The victory improves the Wildcats to 3-0 in conference play and
5-7 overall, while the Pios are fall to 2-9 and 1-2 in the NWC.
The Pioneers jumped ahead of the Wildcats 15-8 with 13:15
remaining in the first half, after Edwards put in a jumper in the
paint on a fast break. The Pioneers would keep the Wildcats at bay
for a while before Linfield tied the game 25-25 with 6:02 to play
after K.C. Wiser nailed a three-pointer from distance. Cody Tesoro
gave the Wildcats the lead for good with just under four minutes
left in the half, making the score 31-29 Linfield. Linfield would
cruise into the locker room with a 37-31 advantage.
In the second half, sophomore PJ Taylor cut the Linfield lead to
three points, after knocking down a jumper less than five minutes
into the period. The Wildcats would respond though, going on an
11-2 run just seconds later. Linfield would go onto pick up the
72-60 win.
Both Edwards and Kollasch finished with 18 points, while Edwards
also picked up eight boards.
Wiser ended the night with 18 points for the Wildcats.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 9 when they take
on Pacific Lutheran on the road at 8 p.m.
