PORTLAND, Ore. – It was a rough night for
the Lewis & Clark men's basketball team as they dropped a
75-59 decision to the Whitworth Pirates in a Northwest Conference
game on Sunday afternoon in the Pamplin Sports Complex.
In the first half, the Pirates held the advantage, shooting and
making 59.1% of their shots, including eight-of-10 from the
free-throw line. The Pioneers battled hard to keep the Pirates
within reach, cutting the lead to 29-24 Whitworth, on a jumper from
Kelly Edwards with 5:22 remaining. The Pirates would once again
surge ahead to a double-digit lead, taking a 37-24 lead into the
locker room.
In the second half, the Pioneers were able to find their shot,
finishing 50.0% from the field and three-point range. The Pio
defense also picked up the pressure, holding the Pirates to 45.8%
shooting. Despite the successful second half adjustments, it
wasn't enough to stop the Pirates from picking the 75-59
victory.

five rebounds, while Adam Brickley had 10 points and PJ Taylor had
nine. James Hollins ended his night with eight points and five
