Game One
Game Two
NEWBERG, Ore., - George Fox completed a four game
sweep of the Lewis & Clark baseball team, taking game three
15-6 before winning the last game of the series 12-1 on Sunday
afternoon at Morse Field. The Pioneers fall to 1-11 on the season
and 1-7 in the Northwest Conference, while George Fox improves to
11-3 and 8-0 in the NWC. Tucker Laurence finished game three going
2-2 at the plate, while collecting three RBI's.
The Pios jumped out to an early lead in the first game, putting two
runs on the board in the opening inning with A.J. Brown driving in
both runs with a single to right field. Parker Dane was the first
Pio runner to cross the plate after reaching base with a lead off
single. Sami Morgan also came around to score after reaching base
on a walk.
George Fox would add seven runs of its own in the following two
innings, jumping in front 7-2. The Pioneers added another run in
the sixth inning to cut the George Fox lead to 10-3, with Laurence
coming around to score on a Kevin Condon single up the middle.
Lewis & Clark would chip away three runs in the top of the
final inning of play, making a final push to regain the lead
beginning with a three run homerun by Laurence. The three runs
would not be enough to earn the Pioneers a victory.
Morgan would pick up an RBI in the third inning of game two,
knocking in Ryan Kostecka with a single to left field but it would
not be enough to overcome the four runs posted by George Fox in the
first inning. George Fox would follow up the Pioneers lone run in
the bottom of the inning, putting up eight runs to take their run
total to 12 for the game.
Lewis & Clark returns to action on March 11 at 2 p.m., taking
on Western Oregon in a single nine inning game on the road.
