TACOMA, Wash., - The Lewis & Clark
women's tennis team continues to take the Northwest
Conference by storm, defeating the Puget Sound Loggers 7-2 on
Saturday afternoon at the UPS Tennis Pavilion for their fifth
straight conference victory. The Pioneers swept the Loggers in
doubles action, earning all three points, while taking four of the
six singles points.
Sophomore Amalia Nilsson defeated Sam Taylor for a victory in the
No. 1 singles spot, grabbing back-to-back sets, 6-0, 6-1. Alissa
Wolf fell to Whitney DeBree in the No. 2 spot, with DeBree grabbing
easy 6-0, 6-1 wins. The Pios Clio Beatty blanked Devin Fields at
the No. 4 spot, pulling out two 6-0 set for the teams third singles
point. Jill Coleman picked up the team's fourth and final
point in singles play, knocking off Jessica Gauger 6-3, 6-1.
Nilsson and DeBree continued their doubles tirade, defeating Taylor
and Madison Holtz 8-1. Alix Dixon and Mika Yokoyama picked up a win
at the No. 2 doubles spot, taking down Wolf and Ada Yu 8-4, while
Coleman and Paige Earhart defeated Ashley Dombrow and Field
8-3.
The Pioneers return to the court on March 13, when they host
Whitman at 4 p.m.at the Lewis & Clark Tennis Dome.
