PORTLAND, Ore. – With five out of the six
singles points, the Lewis & Clark men's tennis team
collected a 6-3 win over Northwest Conference member George Fox on
Saturday, March 28 in the Tennis Dome.
The Pios lone doubles win came at the No. 3 spot, where the Bruins
were forced to pull out due to lack players. George Fox was forced
to do the same thing in singles, defaulting to the Pioneers in the
No. 6 spot.
Vincent Groot earned yet another win for the Pioneers from the No.
1 singles spot, taking down Stefan Lagielski 6-3, 6-2. Peter Ray
and Nick Jenness battled back and forth at the No. 3 spot, taking
the match to three sets. Ray eventually came out victorious,
winning the first set 6-3, falling 2-6 in the second and bouncing
back to win the final set 6-4.
Lewis & Clark's next singles point came from Andrew Moller at
the No. 4 spot, after he successfully out played Ross Budreau 6-2,
6-4. William Parker collected the teams final point after he
defeated Garrett Thompson at the No. 5 spot 6-3, 6-4.
The Pioneers return to the court on Sunday, March 29 at the Tennis
Dome, as they host Willamette in NWC action at 10 a.m.
