PORTLAND, Ore., - Mika Yokoyama picked up a
singles win against Northwest Conference member Linfield College on
Friday, March 20 at the Tennis Dome in the Lewis & Clark
women's tennis teams 7-2 loss. Yokoyama battled in the No. 6
spot with Kirstie Franceshina falling 2-6 in the first set before
bouncing back to take the next two 7-5, 14-12.
The Pioneers other point came from sophomore Amalia Nilsson who
played Sallie Katter at the No. 1 singles spot. Nilsson easy
grabbed a win, taking down Katter in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. Jill
Coleman nearly earned the Pios another singles point, fighting with
Sarah Click in the No. 4 spot. Coleman and Click took their match
to three sets, with Click eventually coming out on-top (3-6, 6-0,
10-3).
Lewis & Clark fall to 5-6 on the season, while Linfield
improves to 11-3. The Pios return to the court on Saturday, March
21 as they head to Pacific Lutheran for a meeting with the Lutes at
11 a.m.
