PORTLAND, Ore., - The Lewis & Clark men's tennis team fell
to Northwest Conference opponent Linfield on Friday afternoon in
the Tennis Dome. The Pioneers fall to 0-4 on the season and 0-2 in
the NWC. Vincent Groot earned the teams lone point as the Pioneers
fell 8-1.
Groot's singles victory came from the No. 1 position, where he took
down Kyle Anderson 6-4 in the first set. Anderson battled his way
back in the second set, winning 6-3, forcing a tie-breaker. In the
third set, the pair battled back and forth with Groot eventually
pulling out a 10-6 decision.
Luke Wheeler nearly pulled out a point for the Pioneers in the No.
2 spot, forcing Tal DeWitt to three sets. DeWitt one the game 6-1,
1-6, 10-7. Matthias Kullowatz also forced his game to go to three
sets, playing Tal Edman to a 0-6, 7-6, 7-1 loss from the No. 6
singles spot.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, Feb. 21 hitting the road
for the first time this season to face Pacific Lutheran at 10:30
