Tennis vs Whitman Saturday

The Pioneer women's team closed out the regular season with a 6-3 (results) victory at Whitman Saturday afternoon. Amalia Nilsson finished the regular season with a perfect 16-0 record in Conference singles. The men fell 9-0 (results) against Whitman in the Tennis Dome.

In Walla Walla, the Pioneer women secured a #3 seed in the Conference tournament with a 6-3 victory on the road at Whitman. Amalia Nilsson (freshman, Stockholm, Sweden) finished off the regular season with a 7-6, 6-1 victory at #1 singles. Nilsson went a perfect 16-0 at singles against Northwest Conference opponents this season. Lisa Harunaga (sophomore, Kailua, Hawaii) finished her season with a 14-1 record at #2 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1. Maggie Peach (sophomore, Bellingham, Wash.) and Mika Yokoyama (freshman, Tokyo, Japan) also had singles victories. The Pioneers also won the top-two doubles matches to earn the 6-3 victory.

The Pioneer women will head to Yakima for the Conference tournament next weekend.

On the men's side, the men played their last official match of the season, falling 9-0 to the Whitman Missionaries. The Pioneers finish the season with a 3-13 mark in Conference play, finishing in seventh place. Only the top six teams go to Yakima for the Conference tournament.

The men will play one final exhibtion match against L&C alumni Tuesday evening in the tennis dome.
