The Lewis & Clark men's basketball team beat the Corban
Warriors 94-62 Saturday in their home opener (boxscore).
The Pioneers controlled the game from the start, holding the
Warriors to 23 points in the first half and allowing only 22 shots.
The Pioneers posted 43 first-half points, 17 of those coming from
David Berggren (Sr., Tualatin, OR). Entering the lockeroom with a
43-25 lead, the Pioneers never looked back.
In the second half, the Pioneers outscored the Warriors 51-37,
shooting 50% from the floor. Aside from the relentless offensive
attack, the Pioneer defense was hard at work. Forcing 27 Warrior
turn-overs and committing only seven, the Pioneers found themselves
with 21 more offensive opportunities than the Warriors.
David Berggren led the Pioneers with 20 points. James Hollins
had a strong debut for the Pioneers, finishing the game
with 15 points and adding 8 rebounds. Tyson Papenfuss and Josh
Kollasch both added 12 points.
With the victory, the Pioneers are now 1-0 on the season. The
Pioneers play at home again this weekend, when they host the Annual
Bon Appetite Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
