Golf Set To Play Seven Tournaments This Spring

The River Otters will kick off their spring season on Monday and Tuesday in California

PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College men's and women's golf are set to compete in seven tournaments this Spring, as they aim to move further up the Northwest Conference Standings.

Both programs competed in four tournaments in the Fall including making a trip to California for the California State Intercollegiate Tournament to kick off their 2025-26 seasons. Lewis & Clark hosted the Orange & Black Tournament at Tualatin Country Club and the Northwest Conference Fall Classic at Oswego Lake Country Club. The women's team finished in fifth place at the NWC Fall Classic, while the men's team placed seventh out of nine teams.

Lewis & Clark will kick off their 2026 season with a second trip to California. They will host the West Coast Invite for a second-straight year. This year's tournament will feature 14 men's programs and seven women's programs with six of the 21 teams ranked in the top-50 in the nation. The West Coast Classic is set to be the biggest NCAA DIII Tournament on the West Coast this Spring. The women's teams will play at Canyon Crest Country Club and the men will play at Victoria Club. The two-day competition will run on February 9-10.

Golf will return to the Pacific Northwest for their final six events of the season. Both teams will take on Pacific University in the Pines Cup on February 21-22. The four teams will square off at the OGA Golf Course in Woodburn. Last season, Lewis & Clark's men team defeated Pacific 12-6 in their first tournament of the year. The Boxers claimed an 11.5-0.5 win over the women's side.

The River Otters will travel to Creekside Golf Course in Salem for the Willamette Valley Cup on March 14-15. It will mark the first time most of the roster has competed in the event after last year's tournament was rained out.

Two weeks later, both teams will head to Molalla, Oregon for the GFU Invitational at Arrowhead Golf Club. The men's "B" team earned the program's first-confirmed tournament win since 1972, when they stormed back from a 15-stroke deficit to finish first out of seven teams. Senior Millen Mistry, junior Luke Blankinship and sophomores Charlie Hageman and Tanner Moody all return from last year's winning team and will look to defend the team's crown. The women will be competing at the GFU Invitational for the first time since 2017 - after the Bruins added a women's portion to this year's tournament.

Lewis & Clark will play in their second Northwest Conference Tournament of the season on April 4-5. The River Otters will head to Oakbrook Golf Club in Tacoma, Washington for the Northwest Conference Spring Classic. The Northwest Conference determines the overall team and individual champions off the results from their three tournaments throughout the year.

Women's golf sits just 12 strokes behind first-place George Fox University after the NWC Fall Classic. Sophomores Ahika Jani (t-2nd) and Evie Denton (t-7th) both finished in the top-10 in the NWC Fall Classic and the River Otters finished within eight strokes of the second through fourth placed teams. On the men's side, Lewis & Clark will have a more uphill battle as they placed seventh in the Fall and finished 29 strokes behind first-place Willamette. The River Otters are within 13 strokes of the teams that finished in third through sixth place. Sophomore Mason Hill led the team at the NWC Fall Classic after tying for 16th

Lewis & Clark will have one last tune-up before the NWC Championship on April 12-13 when they compete at the Wildcat Invitational. Linfield will host this year's tournament at Michelbrook Country Club on April 12-13. It will mark the first time Linfield has hosted their tournament in the Spring in over a decade.

All nine Northwest Conference teams will descend on Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club on April 19-20 for the Northwest Conference Championship. Last season, the women placed fifth out of nine and the men's team finish tied for fifth to secure both teams their best finish in the season standings this decade. The women's team wrapped up the year in fifth place overall and Jani finished second overall at the NWC Championship. The men's team placed in the top-five in each of the final two tournaments to secure sixth in the NWC Standings. Hill (t-12th), junior Kenji Pickeral (t-16th) and Hageman (t-18th) all placed inside the top-20 at the final NWC Tournament.

Women's golf has gotten off a strong start to the 2025-26 season with three top-five finishes that included a second-place showing at the Pacific Invitational in October. Jani leads the team with an average of 78.1 (+6) and won her first career 36-hole tournament with a score of 148 (+6) at the Pacific Invitational. Denton sits second on the team with an 80.3 (+8) average and has posted three top-10 finishes. First years Kimber Yoder (85.2) and Darwyn Kormany (86.1) and sophomore Julia Klenk (87.1) have all been a part of the lineup in every tournament this year.

Men's golf has been up-and-down to start the season with a pair of top-5 finishes in their first four tournaments. The men's team has had seven different players feature in their "A" lineup thus far. Hageman leads the team with a 72.3 average (+1) and earned his first collegiate victory at the Orange & Black Invitational Tournament where he posted a score of 144 (Even). Blankinship (73.6) and Hill (73.9) sit second and third on the team and both players have notched at least one top-10 finish. Moon (74.9) and Pickeral (75.1) have both played in all four tournaments and sit fourth and fifth on the team in scoring average.
