HILLSBORO, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College men's golf sophomore
Charlie Hageman won his first career tournament on Tuesday and earned his first career Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week award six days later, the league office on Monday afternoon.
Hageman became the first Pioneers men's golfer to win a tournament since 2014, when he finished first out of 46 golfers at the Orange & Black Invitational. The sophomore shot a tournament-low round of 69 (-3) on Monday and followed it up with a 75 (+3) on Day Two. His 36-hole score of 144 (Even Par) put him one stroke ahead of Whitman's Grady Brown who posted a 145 (+1).
Hageman is the first Pioneers men's golfer to win the award since fellow sophomore
Joonho Moon was honored on February 24, 2025. Drew Groshong ('17) was the last Lewis & Clark men's golfer to win a tournament. Groshong shot a 147 (+3) to win the 2014 Northwest Conference Fall Classic.
Hageman finished tied for first in the field at the Orange & Black Invitational on both par 4s (4.04 average, +1) and par 5s (4.50 average, -3). He also tied for the lead with one eagle and placed tied for second with his seven birdies. The Lake Oswego native posted one eagle, seven birdies and 20 pars across 36 holes.
Through the team's first two tournaments of the season, he has notched three rounds of par or better and is averaging 71.20 (-1) per round. He shot a career-best 67 (-5) in the second of three rounds at the CA State Intercollegiate Tournament.
Golf will return to action this weekend, when they travel to Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday for the Pacific Invitational.
