Reside led the team for the first time in her collegiate career and seven of the Pioneers runners finished inside the top-54 in their final 5K tune-up.Ā

Malia Heien unavailable on Friday, Reside stepped into the number one role after her strong performance at the L&C Season Opener. She steadily moved up throughout the race. Reside sat 51
stĀ overall after 1.2K, but moved up at each of the next three checkpoints and crossed the line 37
thĀ overall. She finished the race in a team-best 20:33.6.Ā

Skylar Willow came in second on the Pioneers. Willow followed a similar trajectory to Reside, as she sat in 52
ndĀ place after the first 1.2K and moved up steadily. Willow posted a final time of 21:08.6 to finish in 43

The next five Lewis & Clark runners finished back-to-back-to-back, with all five runners coming across in a 26-second span.Ā

Emogene Lutz placed third on the team and 53

Melissa Zurla was the fifth and final scorer for Lewis & Clark. Zurla moved up from 62

Nadia Cota and sophomore
Maeva Conroy finished back-to-back. Cota crossed the line 56
thĀ overall with a time of 22:22.80. Conroy was just 1.80 seconds behind Cota, as she finished in 57
thĀ place with a mark of 22:24.60.Ā

Tesla Curtis finished eighth on the team and 63
rdĀ overall. The first year moved up from 71
stĀ place, all the way up to 56
th, before finishing in 63
rd. She crossed the line in 22:41.80.Ā

Katherine Scannell made her collegiate debut on Friday. Scannell finished 84
thĀ overall with a mark of 26:14.0.Ā

BY THE NUMBERS
- In two 5K races to start the season, Reside has posted times of 20:33.58 (L&C Opener) and 20:33.60 (Ash Creek Collegiate). Those two times are the second and third-best marks of her collegiate career.Ā
- Zurla finished in the top-five on the team for the second time in her collegiate career. She was the team's fourth scorer at the Linfield George Oja Cross Country Invitational on October 14, 2023.Ā
- Curtis (107.45 seconds), Zurla (55.10), Cota (31.35) and Tomhave (7.14) all improved their times significantly from their first race of the season.Ā
- Zurla's 5K time was a new PR.Ā
- The University of Portland won the women's team race with 30 points overall. Fellow NCAA DI side Portland State University (50 points) placed second overall. The Pioneers finished 96 points ahead of Linfield University (271 points) who was the only other NCAA DIII school to compete on Friday. All seven of the Pioneers top finishers crossed the line before the first Wildcat finished.Ā
WHAT'S NEXTĀ

Lewis & Clark will travel to Tacoma next weekend for the PLU Invitational. The race will feature all nine Northwest Conference schools and be raced on the PLU Meadows course that will host this year's NWC Championship Meet on November 1.Ā
