Malia Heien became only the fifth runners in school history to earn a third trip to Cross Country Nationals on Saturday, as she finished 11
th overall to punch her ticket to South Carolina next Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Heien earned her fourth-straight All-Region finish to lead women's cross country to a 14
th-place showing.
The senior, who placed 10
th at the Northwest Conference Championship two weeks ago in similar sloppy conditions, used a strong surge to finish in 11
th place.
She sat 35
th after 1K and 24
th after 1.3 miles. Heien moved up to 16
th after 2.1 miles and 12
th overall at the 2.7 mile mark. She would briefly drop to 13
th at the 3.5 mile mark and would cross the finish line in 11
th place. She posted a final time of 22:28.2.
Junior
Skylar Willow finished second on the team for a second-straight meet. Willow followed a similar script to Heien. She sat 124
th at the first checkpoint but cracked the top-100 after 2.1 miles and crossed the finish line in 87
th place. Willow finished the race in 24:47.9.
Senior
Miriam Reside took 96
th overall. Reside was in 125
th place at the first marker but picked off 20 runners by the second checkpoint and would bounce between 94
th and 98
th the rest of the way. Reside notched a final time of 25:16.5.
Sophomore
Talia Tomhave placed fourth on the Pioneers. Tomhave ranked 123
rd at the first checkpoint and moved up to 101
st after 2.7 miles. She registered a final time of 25:23.5 to place 101
st.
Junior
Nadia Cota finished fifth on the team and 119
th overall in her first Regional race since 2023. The junior sat 133
rd after the first 1.3 miles, but would move up inside the top-125 and eventually finished in 25:57.6.
Sophomore
Maeva Conroy made her Regionals debut on Saturday. She placed 124
th overall. Conroy was sitting in 134
th place at the checkpoint but moved up over the next four markers to finish in 124
th place with a time of 26:12.5.
Senior
Emogene Lutz took 131
st place. Lutz sat 147
th at the first checkpoint but would move up at each marker. She crossed the line in 26:43.4 to take 131
st.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Heien ran the fastest time of her season by 5.2 seconds and her fastest time since setting a PR at last year's NCAA DIII West Regional Championship Meet.
- Reside (51 places) and Lutz (17 places) each improved upon finish from last year's Regional Championship Meet. Reside's 96th-place finish was the best of her career.
- Heien's 11th-place finish was the second-best of her career. She finished in eighth place as a sophomore (2023), 11th as a senior (2025), 17th as a junior (2024) and 28th as a first year (2022).
- Cota's 119th-place finish was 30 spots better than her finish as a first year (149th).
WHAT'S NEXT
Heien will travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina for the 2025 NCAA DIII West Regional Championship Meet. The women's race will kick off at 11 a.m. (Eastern).
