TACOMA, Wash.—Lewis & Clark College women's lacrosse scored 14 consecutive goals en-route to their biggest margin of victory in program history on Saturday afternoon.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
Â
In the first-ever matchup of the two newest Northwest Conference women's lacrosse programs, the Pioneers handed the Lutes their first loss as a varsity program with a 19-2 blowout win.Â
Â
Lewis & Clark set single-game program records for goals (19), assists (seven), shots on goal (30), goals allowed (two), opponents shots/shots on goal (four/three) and opponents turnovers (29). The Pioneers also tied the program record with 16 caused turnovers.Â
Â
Defensively, Lewis & Clark swarmed their hosts who had scored 12 goals in their first-ever game: a 12-6 win over Eastern Oregon University. The Pioneers defense of

Zoey Hamel-Hyland held the Lutes to just one goal in each half. At one point, PLU did not score for 33 minutes and 16 seconds in a row.Â

Offensively,
Kate Meinhard,
Aviana Gonzales,
Sage Swegle and
Mack Searle all posted four goals in the win. Meinhard and Gonzales each added two assists for a game-high six points. Meinhard went 3-4 on free position shots and chipped in a team-high six draw controls and Gonzales added three ground balls and three draw controls.Â
Â
Searle filled the stat sheet with four draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Swegle added two caused turnovers and one ground ball/draw control.Â

Sophomore
Evelyn Burnett added a pair of goals and an assist. Sophomore
Finley Allen accounted for the final goal and McRae recorded the first point of her collegiate career with a goalie assist.Â
Â
Pacific Lutheran took a 1-0 lead just 1:49 into the contest. That lead would last 19 seconds and be the last time PLU held the lead for the rest of the game.Â

The Pioneers scored nine-straight goals to close out the first quarter with Swegle, Meinhard, Searle and Gonzales each chipping in two goals.Â

Swegle completed her hat trick early in the second quarter with back-to-back goals and Gonzales and Searle added one goal apiece to make it 13-1 at halftime.Â

The Pioneers would tack on three more goals in the third and fourth quarters to roll to their third-consecutive win.Â

BY THE NUMBERS
- Â Lewis & Clark is in their second year as a program. The Lutes are in their first year as a varsity program, but they had a club team on campus prior to adding varsity lacrosse. The two teams are both in their first season as NWC conference teams and will play their first conference game against each other on April 12 in Portland.Â
- Mullen (three) tied Gonzales for the team lead in caused turnovers.Â
- The Pioneers finished the game 4-7 on free-position shots.Â
- Lewis & Clark went 9-11 on clear attempts and held PLU to a 3-18 mark.Â
- The Pioneers won 16 of the 25 draw controls.Â

Lewis & Clark will look to improve to 2-0 all-time against the University of Puget Sound, when they play the Loggers in Tacoma on Sunday at 1 p.m. Sunday's game will mark the third of four non-conference games against NWC competition, Lewis & Clark will play before beginning their NWC slate on April 1.Â
