Golf Set To Compete In Eight Tournaments This Spring

Lewis & Clark will make two trips to California and one visit to Washington

PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College men's and women's golf are set to play in eight tournaments this spring as they play the main part of their 2024-25 schedule.

After taking part in five tournaments in the fall, Lewis & Clark will play eight this Spring, including two tournaments in California.

Golf kicked off the Spring in early February when they hosted the first-ever West Coast Classic at the Victoria Club in Riverside, California. The two teams faced off against a stacked field that included nine nationally-ranked teams in the field of 22 total teams.

The Pioneers will host another tournament, this time much closer to home, this weekend. Golf will host NAIA schools Corban University and Bushnell University as part of the Langdon Tri-Meet. The three teams will descend on Langdon Farms on Saturday and Sunday with all 15 members of Lewis & Clark competing.

Lewis & Clark will have a weekend off, before sending members of the team to two different tournaments the weekend of March 8-11. The Pioneers will send their top qualifiers to Moorpark, California to compete in the Kingsmen/Regals Invitational on March 10-11. The field currently includes four top-26 teams in the country: #15 Trinity (Texas) (Men's), #17 Claremont-Mudd Scripps (Men's), #22 Redlands (Men's) and #26 Cal Lutheran University (Women's). Lewis & Clark will send the rest of their team to the Pacific Invitational on March 8-9. The tournament will be hosted at Pumpkin Ridge in North Plains, Oregon.

Both teams will head to Creekside Golf Club the following weekend for the Willamette Valley Cup. It will be the Pioneers first chance to see the majority of the Northwest Conference teams in the PNW this Spring. The tournament will take place on March 15-16 in Salem, Oregon. It will mark womens' golf's final tune-up before the two Northwest Conference Tournaments to close the season.

Men's Golf will have one final tune-up before they face off against the rest of the conference at the NWC Spring Classic. They will travel to Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla, Oregon, for the George Fox Invitational on March 23-24.

Men's and women's golf will travel to the Wine Valley Golf Club on April 6-7 for the second of three Northwest Conference Tournaments. The NWC Spring Classic, which will be hosted by Whitman College, will be the first time the Pioneers have traveled to Washington this season. The NWC Fall Classic and Spring Classic scores both are weighted as 25% of teams' and individuals final scores for the 2024-25 NWC season. Women's golf placed sixth at the NWC Fall Classic in October, with a team score of 693. First years Evie Denton (eighth) and Ahika Jani (t-11) led the team in their first-ever conference competition. On the men's side, Lewis & Clark placed seventh overall with a score of 596. First year Charlie Hageman (tied for eighth), senior Jon Westlake (t-19th) and sophomore Luke Blankinship (t-21st) paced the Pioneers.

After a one-week break, Lewis & Clark will play their final tournament of the season: the Northwest Conference Championship. This year's tournament will be hosted by Linfield University at the Michelbrook Country Club on April 20-21. Lewis & Clark is looking to post their best finish on both sides for the first time in a while. The women's team is aiming to finish sixth or higher in the conference for the first time since they placed fourth overall in 2018-19. Men's golf is looking to finish sixth or higher for the first time since the 2016-17 team earned a fifth-place finish.
