HONOLULU, Hawaii – Lewis & Clark College women's soccer played to a scoreless draw against NCAA Division II Hawaii Pacific University on Sunday afternoon to start the 2024 season.

(Lewis & Clark 0-0-1)
(Hawaii Pacific 0- 0-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Junior keeper Anna Ingadottir earned her first career shutout in net as she faced 10 shots and was one of six Pioneers to play the full 90 against the Sharks.

Defenders Abby Hayes, Kate Meinhard, Abby Morrow, Sophie Rossier, and Elle Sparks combined to block four Hawaii Pacific shots. Hayes and Meinhard joined Ingadottir, playing all 90 minutes on the defensive end of the pitch.

Five first-years made their official collegiate debut on Sunday, and Siena Flock earned a spot in the starting eleven. A day after scoring the Pioneers' lone goal in the exhibition game at Chaminade University, Flock recorded her first two official collegiate shots in the second half during the 51st and 52nd minutes.

Senior Celeste Schreifels (two shots), sophomores Iris Stutzman (two shots) and Grace Smith (one shot) all recorded shots in the first half of the game to contribute to the Pioneers' offensive effort. Stutzman, a transfer from NCAA Division III Wentworth Institute of Technology, registered the first and last Lewis & Clark shots in the first 45 minutes. Schreifels' second shot was the last of the game for the Pioneers as she attempted to find the back of the net in the 83rd minute.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • First-years Tatum Akimoto-Albarado, Ava Lazzara, Kailani Pascua, and Sophia Gill made their official collegiate debuts off the bench.
  • Sunday's contest marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs. The contest counted as a regular-season game for Lewis & Clark. It was an exhibition for Hawaii Pacific, who, due to NCAA DII rules, can't play regular-season countable games until September 7.
  • Schreifels, Smith, and junior Carli Driskill played the full 90 on the offensive end.
  • The Pioneers and Sharks combined for 27 shots in the game, and none were on target, while 10 were blocked between the two teams.
  • Hayes played all 90 minutes for the 26th consecutive game of her career. She last played less than 90 minutes on October 22, 2022, against Puget Sound, when she sat out for 10 minutes.
  • Since 2012, Lewis & Clark has not been in a game where neither team registered a shot on goal. The last time an opponent didn't register a SOG was at Benedictine College on August 31, 2019; the last time the Pioneers had zero shots on target was at Whitworth on September 23, 2017.
WHO'S NEXT

Lewis & Clark returns to Palatine Hill to host Multnomah University at 3 p.m. on Sunday in a non-conference game at Griswold Stadium.
