ORANGE, Calif. –Lewis & Clark College women's lacrosse played their third Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent in four days, falling to Chapman University 21-6 in a non-conference game on Wednesday night to wrap up their Spring Break road trip.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lauren Elliott scored a career-high three goals to record her first collegiate hat trick and added an assist to lead the Pioneers offense. The freshman led the team with three ground balls.
Freshmen
Sage Swegle (two goals) and
Rowan Levandoski (one goal and one assist) rounded out Lewis & Clark's scoring. Sophomore
Kate Meinhard added an assist for the second consecutive game.
Freshmen keepers
Zoey Hamel-Hyland (five) and
Aster Daellenbach (one) combined for six saves in net. Hamel-Hyland added two ground balls in the first half. Daellenbach recorded their first career ground ball and first collegiate-caused turnover in the second half.
Elliott scored the Pioneers' first goal on a free-position shot at 8:36 to make the score 4-1. Meinhard and Swegle connected at 5:08 in the first quarter, pulling within 7-2, while Elliott found Levandoski with under a minute left, making it 10-3 in a woman-up situation.
Chapman took a 14-4 lead into halftime as Elliott scored Lewis & Clark's lone second-quarter goal on a woman-up free-position shot.
Levandoski connected with Elliott for the final goal of the third quarter, making the score 17-5, giving Elliott her first career hat trick.
Swegle made it 17-6 on a free-position goal 90 seconds into the final quarter.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Swegle led the team with eight draw controls; freshman Finley Allen was second with a career-high six.
- The Pioneers won more draw controls (18-12) for the fourth consecutive game and for the sixth time this season.
- Lilly Sullivan led the team with a career-high three caused turnovers. The junior added one ground ball in the game.
- Elliott, Daellenbach, Meinhard, and sophomore Delaney Jones all had one caused turnover against the Panthers.
- Lewis & Clark was 3-4 on free-position shots, Swegle leads the team with 11 free-position goals, and Elliott is second with six.
