PORTLAND, Ore. –Lewis & Clark College women's lacrosse scored the first three goals in their home finale on Wednesday night, but seven straight goals by Linfield University in the first half was too much to overcome in a 19-8 non-conference loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshmen
Evelyn Burnett,
Rowan Levandoski and sophomore
Kate Meinhard scored two goals each to lead the Pioneers offense, while freshmen
Sage Swegle and
Lauren Elliott each added a goal to round out the scoring.
Zoey Hamel-Hyland recorded four of her five saves in the first half against the Wildcats. The freshman keeper also had one groundball in the game.
Burnett scored two of Lewis & Clark's first three goals. Freshman
Alexandra Vargas-Buell found Burnett at 12:51 in the first to start the game. Burnett scored a woman-up goal at 6:39 to make it 3-0 Pioneers just under 90 seconds after Meinhard scored her first goal of the night. Linfield scored three goals before the first quarter ended to make it 3-3 after one.
The Wildcats continued their scoring run in the second quarter with three consecutive free-position goals in the first four minutes. Both Swegle and Meinhard had goals wiped away for violations in the second quarter that would have closed the gap. Linfield took a 7-3 lead at 7:39 on a goal by Starr Pfleiger. Swegle ended the Wildcats' 7-0 run at 4:29 with an unassisted woman-up goal to pull within 7-4. Linfield made a final free-position goal with a second on the clock to take an 8-4 lead into halftime.
Levandoski scored her first goal of the night 90 seconds into the second half, reducing the lead to 8-5. Elliott's goal at 10:38 made it 9-6; the freshman also had a second goal wiped away in the third quarter on a free position attempt. Linfield led 14-6 after three quarters.
Freshman
Finley Allen found Levandoski a minute into the final quarter to make it 14-7, but the Wildcats rattled off three goals for a ten-point advantage. Meinhard scored with just under six minutes left in the game to stop the running clock, but Savannah Irwin scored the final two Linfield goals for the 19-8 score.
BY THE NUMBERS
