PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College men's tennis earned their seventh win of the season and improved to 2-2 in the Northwest Conference with a 7-2 victory over Whitworth College on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis & Clark led 2-1 after doubles play, and junior
Matt Chio and freshman
Noah Sutin finished the day 2-0 to lead the Pioneers over the Pirates.
Sutin and fellow freshman
Max Furman easily defeated Colby Cinqmars and Jess Weaver 8-2 at number three doubles.
Freshman
Joey Lyon and sophomore
Wade McDermott lost 8-5 in the number one match to Henry Preacher and Nathan Tjelle.
Chio and sophomore
Kai Wills earned the final doubles points in a tiebreaker in the second flight. They defeated Payton Romey and Ethan Warring 8-7 (2) to take the lead.
Chio earned his second win of the day at number three singles with a straight-set 6-0, 6-3 victory over Warring.
Lyon and Preacher met across the net for the second time on Sunday in the fourth flight. Lyon won 6-3, 6-3 to give Lewis & Clark a 4-1 lead.
Sutin clinched the Pioneers' win with a three-set victory at number one singles. He lost the first set 2-6 to Romey before winning the next two 6-3, 6-4.
Wills won the first set in the second singles match 6-3, then lost the next two to Tjelle 4-6, 4-6.
Senior
Miles Stone earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Cinqmars at number six singles.
McDermott earned the day's final point with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Weaver in the fifth flight.
BY THE NUMBERS
