Will Heron and sophomore
Joaquin Sandoval added home runs during the day to help Lewis & Clark improve to 4-3-1 on the season.

Â
GAME ONE RECAP
Â
Owen Eisen pitched six scoreless innings in the day's first game, stuck out three Loggers and surrendered only three hits to earn his first collegiate win in his second career start. The freshman pitched back-to-back 1-2-3 innings after giving up one hit in the first inning.
Â
In the bottom of the third inning, sophomore
Brandon Gonzaga laid down a perfect lead-off bunt to reach base safely. Junior
Brennen Davis singled to the shortstop and a throwing error advanced both runners into scoring position. Bass stepped to the plate and swung hard at the first pitch, launching it over the right field fence for his first home run of the season and earning three RBI. Two batters later, with one out, Ghammachi entered the batter's box and jumped on the first pitch. His swing sent the ball over the left-center field fence for his second homer of the season and gave the Pioneers an early 4-0 lead.
Â
Lewis & Clark made a pitching change to start the seventh as sophomore
Nate Kerr replaced Eisen. Kerr struck out the first two batters he faced, then walked the second. The inning ended without incident as Kerr induced a flyout to end it.
Â
After the stretch, Davis hit a lead-off single, then stole second with Bass at the plate. Bass grounded out to second, but Davis advanced to third on the play. Heron hit a hard ball to center field to drive in Davis and put the Pioneers up 5-0.
With one out in the top of the eighth inning, the Loggers loaded up with bases with consecutive singles. The next batter hit a two-RBI double to left-center field, but Puget Sound was a little too aggressive as they sent their third runner to home plate, and he was thrown out on an 8-6-2 put out at the plate. Clerici entered the game with the score 5-2 and 2 outs to close it out and secure the win.
Â
GAME TWO RECAP
Â
Freshman
Caden Hodina got the start for Lewis & Clark in game two. The Loggers lead-off hitter sent the ball through the right side for a base hit. Puget Sound's next batter, Davis Franklin, stepped to the plate and launched a two-run homer over the right-field fence.
Â
In the bottom of the inning, the Loggers walked senior lead-off hitter
Jack Savant. Gonzaga then singled through the left side. A wild pitch with Ghammachi at the plate advanced both base runners 90 feet, but Ghammachi struck out looking for the first out. Bass earned his first RBI of game two and fourth of the day with a sac fly to left field that scored Savant from third base and cut the deficit to 2-1.
Â
Bass recorded his second RBI of the game and fifth of the day in the bottom of the third inning when he hit a double and scored Gonzaga to tie the game at two.
Â
After giving up two runs on two hits in the first inning, Hodina settled in and gave up three hits and no runs over the next three innings. With two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Hodina walked the third batter he faced. Then Puget Sound's Aidan Sullivan hit a double to score the runner from first base and put the Loggers back up 3-2. Senior
Tyler Shimabukuro relieved the freshman on the mound and induced a flyout to end the top half of the inning.
Â
With one out in the Pioneers' half of the sixth, Heron hit the go-ahead home run with Bass on base to put Lewis & Clark up 4-3.
Â
Sandoval lead-off the Pioneers an inning later with his first collegiate home run. The catcher sent the 2-1 pitch over the left field wall to extend the lead.
Â
The Loggers made one last attempt to tie the game in the top of the ninth inning as Clerici came in to close his second game of the day. Puget Sound scored one run on a double with two runners on base to make it 5-4. The Pioneers decided to intentionally walk Franklin and load the bases with one out. The next Logger batter hit a ground ball to senior third baseman
Justin Bailey, who threw out the runner at home and saved the tying run from scoring. Clerici secured the win with a flyout. Â
