PORTLAND, Ore. – Lewis & Clark College men's tennis swept the doubles matches on their way to an 8-1 victory over Willamette University on Friday night and won their 17
th straight match against the Northwest Conference foe.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore
Wade McDermott and freshman
Joey Lyon went 2-0 to lead the Pioneers in the non-conference match, while sophomore
Spencer Loucks played in his first collegiate dual singles match, earning a straight-set win at the sixth flight.
Junior
Matt Chio and sophomore
Landon Cronin earned the first win of the day for Lewis & Clark at number three doubles. The duo was one of two Pioneer doubles teams to win 8-0 over Quentin Nigbur and Luca Casano.
Freshman
Noah Sutin and sophomore
Kai Wills finished the second doubles flight soon after, dominating AJ Avansino and Andre Lief 8-0 for the 2-0 lead.
Lyon and McDermott earned their first win of the night and completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 victory over Zack Olander and Velibor Mladenovic.
Once singles play started, Lyon quickly dispatched Mladenovic 6-1, 6-2 to earn his second win and put Lewis & Clark one win away from clinching the dual.
Miles Stone played in the number four singles match for the first time this season. The senior clinched the dual for the Pioneers by defeating Olander 6-2, 6-1.
McDermott dropped his first set at second singles to Nigbur 4-6 and won the second 6-3. In the 10-point super tiebreak third set, McDermott secured the win 10-6.
Willamette earned their lone point of the night in the third singles match. Avansino beat Cronin in a close 7-6(4), 1-6, 10-7 win.
Junior
Bennett Gazor made his first appearance in singles play this spring with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Lief in the fifth flight.
Loucks earned the final win of the night, defeating Trey Allen 7-6 (3), 6-1.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Gazor moved to 3-0 in singles play against Willamette and 2-0 against Lief.
- Loucks teamed up with freshman Max Furman for an 8-1 doubles exhibition win.
- Freshman Bridger Galyardt won a singles exhibition match 8-1 over Jake Freeland.
- The Pioneers' 17-match win streak dates back to March 7, 2014, when they won 7-2; they have won by a combined score of 145-8 during the streak.
