SPOKANE, Wash. – Lewis & Clark College women's soccer suffered a narrow 1-0 Northwest Conference road loss to Whitworth University despite a career-high 11 saves from junior goalkeeper
Delaney Jones.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jones recorded a career-high saves in her fifth consecutive game, including three in the first nine minutes of play, to keep the Pioneers in the game throughout the 90-minute contest.
Whitworth's Yacine Bitibale scored the match's lone goal at the 10:08 mark, assisted by Claire Nguyen and Baylee Trejo.
Sophomore
Grace Smith led Lewis & Clark with three shots, two on target. The Pirates Paige Broadrick stopped Smith's attempts in the 17
th and 41
st minutes.
Senior
Celeste Schreifels added the Pioneer's third shot on goal in the 19
th minute, during a three-minute span in which the Pios aggressively attacked the Pirate's net to tie the game.
Junior
Carli Driskill provided Lewis & Clark's two offensive efforts in the second half, but her shots in the 53
rd and 59
th minutes were blocked.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Jones' 11 saves are the most by a single goalie since Sophia Young recorded 11 saves at Whitworth on September 18, 2022.
- Lewis & Clark had 12 total saves in the game; the last time that happened was against Pacific Lutheran University on November 5, 2017.
